As the Florida Marlins prepare to ask the state and Miami-Dade County to help build a new ballpark, a new poll shows the measure is wildly unpopular.

Could voters finally be figuring out what a boondoggle it is to give everything but the kichen sink to sports franchise owners? Let's hope so. I love baseball, but I think the time when these guys were allowed to walk away with all the goodies and leave taxpayers to support them is over. Why, one would think they were as powerful as the pharmaceutical industry the way they walk all over us.

MLB can't afford to keep the Expos in Montr�al, and Greater Washington is the logical place to put them. With any luck, some suckers in Northern Virginia will shell out the money for a stadium, and we districters can hop on a train or turn on our TVs to go see them.

What can I say? This is sweet beyond words. History was made tonight in the Yankee's yard.

It is droll to hear New York referred to as "to the south."

NEW YORK - Boston blew away decades of defeat with four sweet swings. Believe it, New England, the Red Sox are in the World Series. And they got there with the most unbelievable comeback of all, shaming the New York Yankees, the Evil Empire to the south.

The Bucs

We lost the game and I did get a bit of a sunburn.

Ex-Buc John Lynch had a very good day, making some key tackles for Denver. The Bucs just couldn't get something going, and the defense was inconsisitent.

I enjoyed the game, but I have to be honest and say that it wasn't nearly as much fun as the college football games I attended as an undergrad. I hate the canned music, and the "cheerleaders' seem kind of rdiculous.
